Rekindling bonds

The mother of a tangata whai ora we support expressed that her relationship with her son, John, was strained.  As a solo mum, she was emotionally, physically and financially drained.

She felt relief when he entered supported accommodation.

When John arrived at Helvetia Supported Accommodation, kaimahi reassured his mother, but she was wary due to past disappointments.

Over the last five years, we kept her involved, fostering trust and friendship through numerous conversations.

She has seen positive changes in John, which has led to a more positive relationship with his whānau.
