Ko Karl Severinsen tōku ingoa.

I began my journey in social services at Massey University, studying psychology and social work. I started my professional life at the Youth Justice residence in Palmerston North, then moved into various youth justice roles at Oranga Tamariki, including serving as a Family Group Conference Coordinator and Youth Justice Supervisor. Most recently, I was a Youth Justice Manager supporting iwi partnership programmes across the Lower North Island.

I love early intervention work that moves beyond just reacting. Early intervention allows us to focus on identifying risks early on. It gives us opportunities to work proactively and make a real difference in people’s lives. I find great fulfilment in leading and supporting teams committed to improving the wellbeing of our whānau and communities.

Beyond my mahi, I am a husband and father of five. In my free time, I enjoy pretending to be a farmer on our small block and dreaming about going fishing more often than I actually do.
